Looking for information about the Dayton Chess Club from the history to how it came to be at 18 W. Fifth Street in downtown Dayton, Ohio?  We do know it all started out with an ad in the local newspaper in 1957  – Earl Boen looking for someone to play chess with.  Bill Wall captured the early years of the Dayton Chess Club….

Dayton Chess Club hours of operation:

Thursdays: 6:30pm-9:30pm
This is our “Scholastic Knights” evening, geared towards K-12 students – learn to play, learn simple tactics.  Adults are welcomed to join in – all for the reduced rate of $4.00 for an evening membership.   Typically there is a lecture at 7pm – and we encourage anyone to volunteer to lecture!

Fridays: 6:30pm-12:30am
There’s always a rated USCF game in 25 on Friday nights …. nominal entry fee of $14 for non-members, $10 for members, prizes based on entries.  And of course, there’s always players looking for a game or two who don’t play in the tournament!

Saturdays/Sundays:  Open only during scheduled tournaments.

2017Membership Fees:
Evening:   $4 for K-12/Seniors (65)  (except Scholastic Thursdays: $4 for all)   $5 adults (except for Scholastic Thursdays)
Month:  $12 K-12 / Seniors (65+), $16 Adults
Six Months:  $55 K-12 / Seniors (65), $60 Adults
Year:  $80 K-12 / Seniors (65), $100 Adults
